2 injured in shooting on Indy’s Far East side
INDIANAPOLIS – Indianapolis Metro Police Department is investigating a shooting that injured two people early Wednesday morning.
According to IMPD, at 2:20 a.m., officers received a report from a caller stating they heard 5 or 6 shots fired in the 800 block of Belhaven Place. While officers were en route, IMPD received another call stating that two people were shot.
When officers arrived they located a male and female with gunshot wounds. Officers say both victims are 20-years-old.
The victims were taken to Eskenazi Hospital in stable condition.
Officers believe this was a targeted attack as shots were fired through one window of an apartment.
Police do not have a description on a suspect, but a caller did tell officers that they saw a white car speeding away from the scene after the shooting.
Detectives are canvassing the area for doorbell footage, witnesses, and are using apartment security cameras to help with the investigation.
