5K race and fun walk to benefit 3rd grader with cancer

Schuylkill Valley Elementary School Service Committee presents Run For Riley on Nov. 14 at the Schuylkill Valley School District campus and Ontelaunee Drive.

The race is a fundraiser for third-year student Riley Rejniak, who is battling neuroblastoma for the third time. Proceeds from the race will support Riley and his family.

Check-in begins at 8am with a fun run from 9:15am for ages 10 and under. Then the 5K and virtual run is at 10:00

The registration for a fun run is $5 and the 5K is $30.

Boyertown is chilling

Building a Better Boyertown is hosting Chillin’ on Main on December 4 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Philadelphia Avenue, which will feature Christmas shopping and food.

Local businesses and non-profit organizations will offer a variety of games, crafts, and activities for children and their families.

New this year is Blitzen’s Holiday Bar for guests over 21 years old. Guests can enjoy a variety of hot drinks for sale while relaxing in a festive atmosphere.

Veterans Day

St John’s Gernant’s Church, 13 Gernant’s Church Road, Ontelaunee Township, will hold a Veterans Day community program on November 7 at 3:00 PM

Everyone is welcome to pay tribute to Granville Sandridge, Quentin Wenrich and all veterans.

Light refreshments will be available.

Memory screening

Aurora Home Care in Wyomissing will be offering free memory exams on Nov. 18 from 1:00 PM to 3:30 PM in honor of National Alzheimer’s Disease Awareness Month.

It is not a diagnostic test, but rather preventive. Each showing lasts approximately 15 minutes. The nurse gives advice based on the results.

All testing material comes from the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America as part of the National Memory Screening Program.

Light refreshments are provided.

Muhlenberg Library

Muhlenberg Community Library, 3612 Kutztown Road, Laureldale, has these programs planned:

Host for the Holidays, November 13, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Recipes, etiquette tips, holiday activities, and food. Free. No registration.

Holiday craft show

The Daniel Boone Optimist Club will host its annual Christmas crafts trade show at Coventry Mall, 351 West Schuylkill Road, near Pottstown on December 4 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
