Westfield High School on lockdown due to shooting threat
WESTFIELD, Ind. — Westfield High School in Hamilton County is on lockdown due to an unverified report of someone “threatening to shoot people” on campus.
Westfield Police said in a statement Monday afternoon that school administration received the unverified threat earlier in the day. Out of an abundance of caution, the school was placed on lockdown while officers searched and cleared the building.
As of 3 p.m., there have been no reports of shots fired and no injuries of any kind have been reported.
“We understand this is concerning to students, parents, and staff,” Westfield PD said in a statement. “Please know that our officers are on scene and actively working to ensure the safety of everyone in the building.”

In an email sent to parents of students, the school acknowledged a “heavy police presence” on campus.
“Dear parents and staff,
Westfield High School is on lockdown due to a potential threat. Out of an abundance of caution, there is a heavy police presence on campus as law enforcement works to ensure the safety of all students and staff. All students are safe at this time.
We ask that you avoid the area at this time to allow emergency personnel to respond effectively.
We will continue to monitor the situation closely and provide updates as soon as more information becomes available.
Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.”
No other information was immediately provided by police. FOX59/CBS4 has crews on scene that have witnessed young people being handcuffed and have confirmed that Indiana State Police are on scene.
