A Heat Advisory for central Indiana through Tuesday

Saturday was the first day of Summer and right on cue Indianapolis saw it’s warmest day of the year with a high of 91° and this is just the start of a long stretch of sizzling days. Due to the dangerously warm weather, a Heat Advisory has been issued for central Indiana from Saturday through 8 p.m. Tuesday.

Highs will rise into the lower 90s again Sunday as the humidity surges. The combination of the heat and humidity will make it feel even hotter outside. Heat indices may exceed 100° during peak heating hours this weekend and early next week. Be careful if you’re going to be outside for long periods of time. Find ways to stay hydrated and cool off to protect yourself from the exceptionally warm weather.

Next week will be the warmest week of the year so far. On the average, Indianapolis has 20, 90° days a year. Expect high temperatures in the low 90s for the next six days. We’ll stay dry through Wednesday before a daily chance for isolated storms develops Thursday and lasts through Saturday.

Watch out for kids and pets during this heatwave.
