American Dairy Association sold 76K milkshakes, 36K grilled cheese sandwiches during 2025 Indiana State Fair
INDIANAPOLIS — About 76,000 milkshakes were sold at the dairy barn during the 2025 Indiana State Fair.
In a Facebook post, the American Dairy Association of Indiana provided a breakdown of its sales from the 2025 Indiana State Fair. The No. 1 item it sold was milkshakes, and the flavor most Hoosiers purchased at the state fair was chocolate.
This year, the ADAI’s key lime pie milkshake was featured in the state fair’s “Taste of the Fair” competition. The key lime pie milkshake clocked in at No. 5 on FOX59/CBS4’s list of best state fair eats.
The ADAI described the milkshake as a “blend of tangy citrus with creamy sweetness for a refreshing treat to cool you down on a hot Indiana summer day.”

The second-most popular item sold at the ADAI dairy barn was grilled cheese sandwiches. About 36,000 grilled cheeses were purchased at the dairy barn during this year’s state fair.
The most popular of the sandwiches among fairgoers, according to the ADAI, was the smoked gouda’cue. The smoked gouda’cue sandwich was featured in this year’s “taste of the fair” competition and was an honorable mention on FOX59/CBS4’s list of best state fair eats.
The ADAI wrote that the sandwich “boasts layers of rich smoked gouda, sharp cheddar and tangy barbecue sauce between buttery, golden Texas toast.”

In addition to the grilled cheese sandwiches and milkshakes, the ADAI also sold 12,000 ice cream bowls, 4,400 ice cream cones, 12,000 servings of milk, 8,400 orders of mozzarella sticks and 2,600 “mini moo meals.”
Per the ADAI’s website, “mini moo meals” are kids meals that include a grilled cheese sandwich, applesauce, chocolate or white milk and a prize.
The dairy barn is located across from Corteva Coliseum on the Indiana State Fairgrounds. It’s a red, 10-window booth that is often seen with a “Winners Drink Milk” inflatable in front of it.
The dairy bar will open on Aug. 7 during next year’s state fair.
