Aris Garro Obituary (1975 – 2021) – West Warwick, RI

dr. Aris Charles Garro, 46 ​​of North Kingstown, RI, passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on November 17, 2021, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was the loving husband of Christine (Followill) Garro and the loving father of their three young children, Zoe, Arlo and Isaac. They were married for 12 years. Aris was born in Hartford, CT, the son of Cory and Grace (Calabretta) Garro. He leaves behind his brothers Julian Garro and his wife Sarah (Jonas) and Lucian Garro and his wife Karen (Barnicle). Aris was a loving uncle to his nieces and nephews, Drew, Max, Bella and Olive Garro, along with new baby niece Jade Mara Taylor.
Aris grew up in Glastonbury, CT. He graduated from Glastonbury High School in 1993 and the University of Virginia in 1997. He received his medical degree from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in 2001 and then completed his residency at the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center and his fellowship training at the Hasbro Children’s Hospital. He currently worked as a pediatrician in the emergency room at Hasbro Children’s Hospital and as a researcher at Brown University’s Warren Alpert Medical School and Rhode Island Hospital. Aris was a passionate researcher in emergency interventions for children with asthma and the treatment of pediatric Lyme disease and meningitis. He was recently approved to be a professor of pediatrics and emergency medicine at Brown University’s Warren Alpert Medical School.
Aris loved to play soccer and was an avid fan of all things soccer, especially the USA Men’s National Team, as well as watching basketball from the University of Connecticut and the University of Virginia. He had a love for painting and music and learned to play guitar for jam sessions with his good friends. Aris loved his garden and nature. He loved reading Harry Potter with his daughter Zoe and teaching his son Arlo football skills. He loved to cuddle with his son Isaac while watching all of Isaac’s favorite shows. Aris enjoyed the summers at his family’s cottage in Charlestown, RI.
Visitation will be held on Monday, November 22, 2021, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, and again on Tuesday, November 23, 2021, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM with a Life Celebration Service at 11:00 AM at the Carpenter Jenks Funeral Home, 659 East Greenwich Ave, West Warwick, R.I. Aris will rest his ashes at a later date in a private ceremony with family.
