A few showers and storms have been pushing through Central Indiana this evening. Expect showers to be around for the rest of the evening but they should clear out by 2:00 a.m. Temps tonight will fall into the lower 50s for lows.
We will kick off Monday with temps in the lower 50’s under a mostly cloudy sky. Clouds will start to clear out as we head into the afternoon hours. Highs will climb into the lower 70s but there will be some clouds for the Eclipse. It will be thicker in spots but the main type of clouds we’re thinking will be present are Cirrus clouds. These and other high-level clouds will likely be around with coverage around 40-50% in our skies.
If we instead had low-to-mid-level clouds, those would block the eclipse without any issue. That’s because clouds in those levels are thicker, more dense and have a higher moisture content. With that higher content, it’s harder for the sun to shine through them.
Luckily, the high-level clouds will be present for the most part on Monday! They will be thin overall but I do anticipate a few spots will see a bit thicker coverage in spots.
Some of the totality durations are in the above picture. Totality starts for Central Indiana just after 3:00 p.m. and will last anywhere from 2-4 minutes. Post-Eclipse Active Stretch
The first wave of rain looks to move in Tuesday into Tuesday night on a scattered basis. Then another round will come Wednesday into Thursday. That’s when the most widespread rain looks to be and it will be heavier in spots.
By the end of the work week, a few spots could approach 2-3″ of rain when all is said and done. It will depend on where the heavier rainfall axis sets up. A slightly cooler day Friday before more warmth and sunshine arrives for next weekend!
