Eric and Danyelle Musselman raise funding for pediatric cancer

University of Arkansas men’s basketball coach Eric Musselman and his wife Danyelle chair the inaugural Suits & Sneakers Gala, raising money for childhood cancer research. The inaugural gala will take place on October 15, 2021, from 7:00 PM to 11:00 PM in downtown Fayetteville. The Suits & Sneakers Gala aims to raise funds to support childhood cancer research, services, awareness, prevention efforts and access to care. According to the American Cancer Society, cancer is the leading cause of disease-related death in children. The money raised from this year’s event will be used for the most innovative laboratory studies that could potentially provide new and improved treatments for children with cancer. “ACS leads and funds research that helps us better understand childhood cancer and develop therapies that do not compromise the quality of life of children and their families during and after treatment,” said Catherine Tapp, senior development manager for American Cancer Society. Danyelle Musselman is also co-chair of the Coaches vs. Cancer Wives and Friends Committee. “Eric and I are deeply committed to helping the American Cancer Society improve outcomes for children with cancer,” Danyelle said. For more than 25 years, Coaches vs. Kanker, in partnership with the National Association of Basketball Coaches, has united coaches and fans from across the country to assist ACS with fundraising and education initiatives. While childhood cancer is a serious matter, the Suits & Sneakers Gala will draw on the merry spirit of basketball pep. rallies to motivate guests in the fight for cancer-free children. The event will feature DJ Derrick, dinner, fun action stations, a live auction and more. With VIP tickets, enjoy a pre-event reception at 6:00 PM, including a meet-and-greet with basketball coaches, players and the University of Arkansas cheerleaders. They also receive a great swag bag. The event is presented by Walmart and the Willard & Pat Walker Charitable Foundation.
