FOX59 at the 500: IMS, IndyCar President Doug Boles speaks ahead of 500
INDIANAPOLIS — Doug Boles, the president of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and IndyCar, is “feeling pretty good” ahead of Sunday’s race.
This comes as the 109th Running of the Indianapolis 500 is sold out, causing the local blackout to be lifted. The race will air live starting at 12:45 p.m. on FOX59 and will replay at 7 p.m. on FOX59.
Boles told FOX59/CBS4 that any time that the speedway hosts more than 300,000 people, officials staff the race to prepare for it to be completely full, stressing that “to be able to actually do it this year is great.”
Boles said that he expects beautiful weather this year for the race and is not worried about lightning. Boles spent his morning with FOX59 Reporter Eric Graves, celebrating with several fan traditions who were camping out before Sunday’s race.
When asked if Boles has time to reflect during the event, Boles said that he takes that time during the portion of the festivities that includes the singing of the National Anthem and the singing of “Back Home Again in Indiana.”
