‘Give a Wish’ grants dream to little boy with cancer diagnosis

Lake Charles, LA (KPLC) – At the age of four, Ethan Trosclair was diagnosed with B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia – a type of blood cancer that affects the bone marrow.

Troclair went into remission a month after treatment and now the 6-year-old is strong with a bright future ahead of him. The first stop on his journey, Disney World. A limo picks up the Trosclair family in style, drives to Houston, then flies to Orlando — all made possible by the Give a Wish foundation.

“It’s great,” said his mother Lindsay Trosclair. “From the diagnosis and the fact that COVID is unable to travel, spend time with family, that means the world.”

“The experience creates memories that these families will have forever,” said Give a Wish Board member Nicole Hidalgo.

Ethan went through blood transfusions and chemotherapy and inspired his family and friends, without knowing the impact he had along the way.

“He did a great job, never complained, he’s my little hero,” his mother said.

Give a Wish sends children and their families across the country to prepay and support families who are struggling financially or mentally after a diagnosis.

“We have fulfilled nearly 40 wishes for children in our community,” said coordinator Paula Livingston. “We have had great wishes. Most of them want to go to Disney World.”

Kids like Ethan who will stay strong with the support.

Ethan and his family are flying to Disney on April 21.
