Goshen Police Department supports woman with breast cancer through No Shave November

GOSHEN TWP., Ohio (WKBN) — Some Goshen Police Department officers in Mahoning County are laying down their razors in November to support a woman battling breast cancer.

Officers participate in “No Shave November” in favor of Tara Wittensoldner. They donated $30 to participate – one dollar for every day they would normally shave.

It’s all in favor of Wittensoldner, who was diagnosed in January. The case comes close to home for the department, as Tara’s husband Rob has served as a police officer for the Goshen Police District for many years.

“We have two kids, Ella, aged 13, and Lillian, aged 11, and it’s something I think they will take with them for the rest of their lives to see the community come together for support,” Wittensoldner said.

The goal of the challenge is to raise awareness by embracing her, something many cancer patients unfortunately lose.

This is the department’s third year participating in “No Shave November” and all proceeds will go directly to Wittensoldner and her family.
