ATHENS – Health Minister Thanos Plevris had a teleconference with Ukrainian Health Minister Victor Liashko on Tuesday, with the participation of the governor of the children’s hospitals “Aghia Sofia” and “P&A Kyriakou”, Emmanuel Papasavvas.

The main topic of discussion was the transfer of children suffering from cancer, as well as their families, from Ukraine to the Pediatric Oncology Unit-Marianna V. Vardinogianni “ELPIDA” of the “Agia Sofia” Hospital, to complete their treatment.

This move was an initiative of the President of the Association “ELPIDA-Association of Friends of Children with Cancer”, Marianna V. Vardinogianni, who will ensure the safe transfer of children from Ukraine to Greece, as well as provide hospitality to their families in the ELPIDA Hostel or in apartments near the Oncology Unit for as long as needed.

In addition, Liashko asked Plevris to consider the possibility of taking in war wounded from Ukraine for recovery and rehabilitation in healthcare institutions in Greece.
