Amazon Hinckley workers have donated £1,000 to a cancer foundation as part of a global awareness campaign.

The fulfillment center team donated the money to the Isla Stones Foundation as part of the company’s global Amazon Goes Gold campaign during Childhood Cancer Awareness Month in September.

Amazon Goes Gold saw the team in Hinckley hold a series of gold themed events for a month. The gold theme is a recognition of the international color for childhood cancer.

One of the events this year was a 48-hour PJammin’ party. The team in Hinckley joined colleagues across the UK in wearing pyjamas to work in honor of children who spend every day in their pyjamas during treatment.

Ian Jackson, Amazon Hinckley site leader, said: “It’s fantastic to support the Isla Stones Foundation.

“We hope the donation will give a boost to the staff and volunteers who do so much for the children in our community.”

Now in its fifth year, #AmazonGoesGold highlights, supports and empowers organizations’ work to increase survival through life-saving treatments and research.

One of the Amazon employees of the fulfillment center who participated in Amazon Goes Gold is Nadja Apel.

She added: “It’s great that Amazon continues to support children’s cancer organizations both here in Hinckley and around the world.

“I loved taking part in the activities on our site and I’m delighted to be able to make this donation to such a brilliant charity in our community.”

Every year, Amazon supports and partners with childhood cancer organizations across Europe, making it possible for every child affected by cancer to fight for their future.

Charity partners for 2021 include the Starlight Foundation, Together for Short Lives and the Children’s Cancer and Leukemia Group.
