IMPD: 3 injured in shooting on east side of Indianapolis
INDIANAPOLIS — Three people were injured in a shooting on the east side of Indianapolis Tuesday night.
According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, officers were called to the 4400 block of East 10th Street around 6:40 p.m. to investigate a shooting. When police arrived at the scene, they located two people with injuries consistent with gunshot wounds.
IMPD has confirmed that both victims are currently in stable condition.
A FOX59/CBS4 crew was sent to the shooting scene. That crew found police conducting an investigation in the parking lot of a CVS.
A short time after officers responded to the 4400 block of East 10th Street, IMPD received a report that indicated a person had walked into Community East Hospital — which is located at 1500 N. Ritter Ave. — with apparent gunshot wounds sometime before 7:05 p.m. When police made it to the hospital to look into the report they had received, they confirmed a shooting victim had, indeed, checked into the facility.
During the course of its investigation, IMPD determined that the victim who walked into Community East Hospital was injured in the shooting that happened in the 4400 block of East 10th Street.
Police reported that they also located a person with injuries consistent with gunshot wounds in the 6100 block of Windsor Drive, which is located about three miles from the 10th Street shooting scene.
IMPD did not report exactly why its officers were originally called to the 6100 block of Windsor Drive. Police could only confirm that they found a person with apparent gunshot wounds there.
Police do not currently believe the victim they found on Windsor Drive was injured in the shooting that happened on East 10th Street. Detectives are, however, still actively investigating both cases, and IMPD is expected to provide an update on Tuesday night’s shootings soon.
It is currently unclear if IMPD has arrested or detained any suspects or persons of interest at this point in its investigation of the shootings.
As of this article’s publication, no additional information on the shootings or the circumstances that led to them had been made available.
This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
