INDOT: Highway exit ramp closures to occur after Indy 500
INDIANAPOLIS — On Sunday, around 350,000 people will be at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the 109th Running of the Indianapolis 500.
But after the race, several of those individuals will be leaving the speedway at the same time.
Once the race ends, officials with the Indiana Department of Transportation are planning to close off exit ramps to help accommodate outbound traffic, according to a post on the department’s social media. This includes highways like I-65, I-465 and I-70.

Officials said that these closures will also help “accommodate one-way conditions on local streets.”
The exit ramps impacted by the INDOT closures include:
- I-465 northbound to 56th Street
- I-465 northbound and southbound to 38th Street
- I-65 northbound and southbound to Lafayette Road
