Joey Chestnut breaks popcorn eating record at Terre Haute Rural King
TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — World champion competitive eater Joey Chestnut broke his own popcorn-eating world record Monday.
Chestnut held the previous record by eating 32 24-ounce bags of popcorn in 8 minutes. On Monday, he ate 5 extra bags to shatter the record. Chestnut performed the feat at a Rural King in Terre Haute.
The company sponsored the event, and it took place in their parking lot, where hundreds of residents gathered to cheer on Chestnut and take part in their own personal eating competitions.
Chestnut is an Indiana resident and holds more than 55 eating world records.
