Man dies after being found shot near laundromat on northeast side

INDIANAPOLIS — Indianapolis metro police are investigating after a man suffering from gunshot wounds outside a laundry mat on the city’s northeast side died Tuesday night.

Officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department were dispatched around 9:42 p.m. to 9940 E. 38th Street, the listed address for Indyland Laundromat, to assist the Indianapolis Fire Department on an unspecified call.

While responding to this, IMPD said an unknown vehicle pulled up and dropped off an adult male suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.

The victim was then transported to Eskenazi Hospital in “very” critical condition before passing a short time later, according to IMPD.

IMPD added that detectives will continue canvassing the scene as part of their investigation and will also check if the laundromat has any video surveillance footage of the incident.

Preliminary information indicates the shooting did not occur at the laundry mat, IMPD said. However, officers are still working to determine where the shooting originally took place.

No other information was immediately available.

This is a developing story and more information will be added as it becomes available.
