Man dies during family fight in Marion

MARION, Ind. – An investigation is underway after a man died during a domestic dispute Friday afternoon.

According to the Marion Police Department, just before 12:30 p.m., officer responded to a domestic violence call in the 1700 block of West 9th Street.

Investigators believe the incident stemmed from a family fight between a mother and her son. Police say 21-year-old Quad Story was allegedly battering his mother when the 55-year-old man attempted to calm the situation. Story allegedly shoved the man while intervening, according to police.

The man and Story’s mother proceeded to leave the residence, according to police. As they were walking, the male collapsed in an alleyway. He was able to make made it to the rear of a house, then lost consciousness on the porch.

When officers arrived, they found him unresponsive. He was pronounced deceased by medical personnel, according to police. Story’s mother suffered moderate injuries to her face and head, police say.

Story was later located and arrested for involuntary manslaughter and domestic battery with moderate injury.

No additional information was released. The incident remains under investigation.
