MARION, Va. (WJHL) — Mount Rogers Health District has announced its distribution plans of Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccines to people ages 5-11.
A district release said that while the FDA has approved Pfizer vaccines for the age group, it is awaiting green light from the CDC, which is expected to meet on Nov. 2 for discussion.

Planning information will be released by local school systems once the vaccine is approved, with clinics scheduled to open in the first few weeks of November.
These clinics are after school and a parent or guardian must supervise children receiving the vaccine.

Local health departments schedule the appointments in blocks of 10, the release states, to avoid wasted doses.
