Reports: 15 people shot in Indianapolis over the weekend
INDIANAPOLIS — Public police reports indicate the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department responded to at least 11 shooting incidents over the weekend.
From Friday afternoon to Sunday evening, 15 people were injured in those incidents. FOX59/CBS4 tracked all of the shootings throughout the weekend. Below is a recap of the incidents:
May 16: 1600 block of East Raymond Street
Officers with IMPD responded to the 1600 block of East Raymond Street around 3:28 p.m. Friday to investigate a shooting. When police arrived at the scene, they located an adult male and an adult female with injuries consistent with gunshot wounds.
When the shooting occurred, IMPD reported that both victims were in critical condition. Previous reporting indicates police found evidence related to the shooting in the parking lot of a Dollar Tree.
May 17: 2700 block of North Graham Avenue
A public police report indicates officers responded to the 2700 block of North Graham Avenue around 2:30 a.m. Saturday. The report indicates one victim was involved in a shooting there.
The report characterized the victim as a female. No additional identifying information on the victim was provided in the report.
The report also indicates a male suspect was implicated in the shooting. It is unclear if police have identified the suspect or made any arrests related to the shooting on Graham Avenue.
May 17: 2000 block of North Arlington Avenue
Per a public police report, IMPD located a person who had been shot in the 2000 block of North Arlington Avenue around 5:26 a.m.
In their report, police indicated that they were already on Arlington Avenue when they were approached by a person who had been shot. IMPD described the victim as a male.
May 17: 1300 block of West 28th Street
Per an IMPD report, officers investigated a shooting in the 1300 block of West 28th Street around 7:20 a.m. Saturday.
Police indicated that the victim involved in the shooting was a female. Per IMPD’s report, the victim was shot in the leg.
IMPD arrested 53-year-old Curtis E. Woods during its investigation of the shooting. Woods was preliminarily charged with dealing marijuana, a Level 6 Felony and dealing cocaine, a Level 3 Felony.
May 17: Intersection of 29th Street and North Dearborn Street
A juvenile was killed and an adult male was injured in a shooting that occurred near the intersection of 29th Street and North Dearborn Street around 10:34 p.m. Saturday.
IMPD reported that officers located the juvenile victim at the shooting scene. The adult male victim walked into Community East Hospital to have his injuries treated before police found him.
Previous reporting indicates IMPD had been monitoring a block party in the area before the shooting occurred. Police also found a three-vehicle crash at the scene of the shooting.
May 17: Intersection of East Washington Street and North Meridian Street
Three people were shot near Monument Circle in downtown Indianapolis around 10:40 p.m. Saturday. Previous reporting indicates two of the victims are adult males.
The third victim involved in the shooting is a juvenile. Per IMPD, all three victims were in stable condition as of Saturday night.
Police detained a person at the scene. They later released that individual.
IMPD also reported that its detectives recovered a firearm at the scene of the shooting.
May 17: 5200 block of East 38th Street
IMPD investigated a shooting the 5200 block of East 38th Street around 11 p.m. Saturday.
A public police report indicates IMPD located an adult male with apparent gunshot wounds in the area. Police reported that the victim was transported from the shooting scene to an area hospital in stable condition.
May 18: 20 block of North Arsenal Avenue
A media notification sent by IMPD indicates officers were called to the 20 block of Arsenal Avenue around 1:02 a.m. Sunday. When they arrived at the scene, they located a male victim with injuries consistent with gunshot wounds.
IMPD reported that the victim was transported from the scene to an area hospital in stable condition.
May 18: 3500 block of North Audubon Road
Little information has been made available about the shooting IMPD investigated on North Audubon Road around 1:11 a.m. Sunday. A public police report on the incident indicates a male was wounded in the shooting.
May 18: 300 block of North Lasalle Street
In a media notification, IMPD confirmed an adult male was shot in the 300 block of North Lasalle Street Saturday night. The shooting was not reported to IMPD until Sunday afternoon.
A public police report indicates the shooting likely occurred around 11:30 p.m. Saturday. IMPD indicated that the victim sustained minor injuries in the shooting.
May 18: 4700 block of East 19th Street
IMPD officers were dispatched to the 4700 block of East 19th Street around 5:38 p.m. to investigate a shooting. When police arrived at the scene, they located a victim with injuries consistent with gunshot wounds.
IMPD reported that the victim was in critical condition when officers found them. No additional information on the victim’s identity or medical status have been made available.
