Sheriff’s Office: 1 dead after crash in Delaware County

DELAWARE COUNTY, Ind. — One person was pronounced dead after a crash that occurred early Saturday morning in Delaware County.
Accoridng to a news release from the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched to the area of the 5600 block of South County Road 575 East on a report of a pickup truck colliding with a tree at around 1:44 a.m. Saturday.
When deputies arrived, deputies discovered “significant damage to the vehicle,” the release said.
“The impact caused substantial deformation to the cab and frame of the truck,” the release said. “…Preliminary finidngs indicate the vehicle left the roadway for an unknown reason. There were no known witnesses to the crash and the area was not well lit. No evidence of other vehicles being involved has been found at this time.”
The driver, who was not identified by the office, was pronounced dead at the scene. The release said that the driver was the only occupant of the vehicle.
The incident remains under investigaiton by the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office.
