5 shot, IMPD officer injured on Indy’s east side

INDIANAPOLIS – Police are investigating after one person was killed and fourth others, including an IMPD officer, were injured in a shooting early Sunday morning Indy’s east side.

According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, just after 1:30 a.m., officers responded to the 1111 Bar & Grille in the 9400 block of East Washington Street on the report of shots fired. When officers arrived, they located four people, including the officer with injuries consistent with gunshot wounds.

They all were transported to area hospitals. The officer was reported to be stable, according to police. The conditions of the civilian victims are unknown.

Shortly after, police were notified that a fifth person, who was shot during the incident, had arrived at Community Hospital East. They were pronounced deceased, according to police.
